Créer des mondes fantastiques avec OXAL RM

ENERGYLANDIA is located in the town of Zator in the voivodeship (province) of Małopolska (Lesser Poland), half way between Katowice and Kraków. The theme park offers some 60 attractions spread over 26 hectares. These include 27 different rides, 20 playgrounds, two theatres and two amphitheatres, all divided between the three constantly expanding theme worlds: “Fairytale Land”, “Family World” and “Adrenalin Zone”.
ENERGYLANDIA has a fantastic array of structures, rock formations, ships, waterfalls, aquaria and numerous decorative fixtures and fittings in the hotel areas, all made from concrete and coated with synthetic resin for surface protection. However, as the components exposed to wind, rain and other external factors soon began to show real signs of weathering and damage, this solution quickly proved to be unsatisfactory. In January 2016, the theme park decided to carry out repairs on damaged components and any newly sculpted creations using the mineral materials of the Oxal RM series, which had already proven so successful in theme parks, zoos and other venues worldwide.

Since then, every one of the structures’ metal frames has been covered and shaped by the microsilica-modified repair and sculpting mortar Oxal RM-H. Aside from its strength, Oxal RM-H demonstrates high resistance to carbonation and is able to effectively withstand temperature swings, frost and de-icing salt. It is also water-impermeable – yet open to water vapour diffusion. Oxal RM-L provides the finish to each coating system. This mortar is highly sulphate-resistant and ideal for the intricate sculpting required to reproduce natural-looking rock, stone or timber effects. It offers resistance values similar to those of its companion, Oxal RM-H, and is available in a wide range of colours, facilitating the creation of naturalistic artificial fantasy worlds.

Proven versatility

Oxal RM’s wide-ranging properties and the myriad application possibilities were thus of interest to ENERGYLANDIA’s asset owners. For them it was also important to ensure that even large, complicated elements such as towers and rock structures could be refurbished and overworked using simple processes, without having to compromise on quality. The company entrusted with the sculpting and refurbishment tasks was DEKOS Łukasz Plata, an outfit with many years of successful experience in the application of Oxal RM.
The repair and modelling work took place during the theme park’s winter break from January through April and required extensive logistical planning. MC supported this every step of the way with a detailed supply schedule and just-in-time deliveries to avoid delays. The work was successfully completed ready for the start of the summer season in May, with other areas due to be similarly extended and refurbished in the future.
